Captain Communication No. 2

So the second Captain Communication has gone out……and it looks like almost every team has had at least one member read it.

The race date is fast approaching and we are looking forward to seeing how you all stand up against the Phantom in 2010. If you have any questions regarding the Gear List or anything else, be sure to ask it sooner than later.

RTP10 is a Sell Out!!!!!

Team Awesome, a single gender foursome from Fredericton, NB has joined the Phantom. Welcome guys!

CP??

Thought I would share a photo from one of our mapping sessions for Race the Phantom. The race course is filled with beautiful places that you will enjoy, as long as you remember to take a look around while you are racing.

That’s All Folks!!

Well folks, registration is closed for the 2010 edition of Race the Phantom. 19 teams and 65 racers have signed up to run from the Phantom for 36 hours.

We are one spot short of a sell out, but we are very pleased with the turn out. There are some top quality teams and sponsors this year and we couldn’t be happier.

If you are the 20th team, and you don’t wait too long, drop us an email…..we may be able to squeeze you in.

cheers
Troy & Nat

A Dozen Days!

Looks like we are entering the home stretch, Race the Phantom has 2 open spots and 12 days left for someone to take them. Once the clock strikes midnight on May 31st, officially making it June 1st, registration will close and no new teams will be taken for the 2010 edition.

In recent development, we have entered a new partnership with Pierre Huard and his company Kitchen Fiction Productions. What does this mean? It means that Race the Phantom 2010 will be filmed by a professional company, and not me with my digital camera. It means that a DVD will be available to racers for purchase. It means you will have a permanent reminder of RTP10, something other than the physical and mental scars you may incur.

We are of course still providing boats (Eco-logical Adventures), GPS tracking (TrackMe360), and very nice maps (MyTopo), and may other perks…..to numerous to mention. :)

See you all soon, and watch your email for your Team Communication No 1, which has already gone out to one member of your team.

cheers

2 Days and 3 Chances

As I am writing this at 2:57pm ATL time on Wednesday, April 28th……we have 3 spots open for new teams and less than 2 days for Early Bird Pricing.

Nat and I are very pleased with the momentum for this year’s Race the Phantom and have been putting an extra push on to find more sponsors and a way to accommodate more teams. I am not saying that we will be successful in either endeavor, but we are trying.

So far we have entries into Untamed New England and GMARA sponsored events, some great software and books from Human Kinetics and My Topo, swag and various prizes from Get Out There Magazine, Incline Sports, Ecological Adventures, and Radical Edge plus great services from Track Me 360 and Untamed Adventure.

If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring or volunteering or racing at this year’s Race the Phantom please contact us at anytime.

RTP2010 – A path to the World Championships!

Racers at Race the Phantom are now competing for an entry into the World Series Qualifier – Untamed New England 70hr Adventure Race. This is a $2000 value!! www.untamedne.com

14 Days to Get the Early Bird

Our Early Bird price will end at midnight on April 30th….that means that you will pay more for the Phantom if you do not make this deadline.

We have 6 team spots remaining and we will not be taking any new team registrations after June 1st.

The course design continues to improve….perhaps Nat and I will share some course photos from our next trip into the wilds of Northern New Brunswick…..maybe. :)

Till next time…

Troy and Nat

Is the glass half empty or half full?

Great news……Race the Phantom 2010 is now 50% ……actually we have gone beyond 50% full and are now sitting at 60%. That means we have 12 teams registered and 8 spots remaining.

I have been asked by a couple of teams if they would be able to add a fourth member to their group at a later date. The answer is ‘yes’…..as long as it is before our deadline of June 1st.

The course details are working out very nicely, the course will be challenging so make sure you get your navigational skills tuned up. Who’s Your Daddy on June 12th would be a good opportunity to get your team together for an 8hr adventure race in the Fredericton Area before the Phantom.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

The future of Adventure Racing!

How will our sport grow? It seems that Nat and Iuli have found a way to increase our enrollment for future events.

CONGRATULATIONS to them on the birth of their newborn son.

(insert name here) was born on March 16th, 2010 in the afternoon and weighed in at 7lbs and 14 ounces, mom and baby are doing well…..but Nat still sucks.
