Gear

Mandatory Gear: We have made two additions to the Mandatory Team Gear List and have changed the First Aid Kit requirements.  All teams must now carry the following two items throughout the entire race:

  • a pen-style flare launcher with 2 flares, and
  • a VHF radio.

NSAR will be outfitting each team with a VHF radio however it should be noted that teams will be responsible for keeping them safe and dry and that the flare launcher and flares will not be provided by NSAR.  This addition was necessary due to the lack of cell coverage in portions of the race course.

We have also specified the minimum contents for the first aid kit.

Gear Bins: Team gear bins may not exceed 190 liters; our poor volunteers are alreay suffering enough.
