RTP09 has been brought to you by the number 36!

That’s right! Thirty six (36) is the number to remember when contemplating registering for Race the Phantom. Nat has made the boat reservation and we are capping our number of racers at 36. What does this mean if you are racer 37? Well I guess it means you will be swimming. :) Just kidding, if you notice the numbers nearing the limit be sure to contact us asap and we will do our best to fit you in…..but no promises.

I sent out the emails for a head count and we got a good response. We have also heard from some new one racers who are on the fence, if you know one of these racers…please give them a little push. So all in all it looks like there will be a good turn out for our third Race the Phantom.

NSAR was on Fred-FM last week to discus our Who’s Your Daddy race being held in Fredericton and also to sign up Newman and Gavin for the 4 hour version. I want to send out a special ‘Thank You!’ to the Crawdaddy and Newman for the coffee and radio time. With any luck some listeners will check out the site and sign up for our both races.

The planning continues (as it will until race day) and things are really coming together for us. We have heard from a few sponsors and they are stepping up as always to help out our sport. If you know anyone who may be interested in becoming a sponsor please send me their information and I will be sure to get 0ut our sponsorship package to them right away. Sponsors are why we can offer you a fully supported event that includes boats for the $180 price, so be sure to send them a thanks if you get a chance.

Last but not least it is time to share one more race tip for those of you out there who are reading our posts…….do some hill training and then do some more.

Team Limit Coming??

As Nat and I conclude the planning for Race the Phantom 2009, we are faced with putting a limit on the number of teams we can accept for this year’s race. What that number will be remains to be finalized but it will not be many more than we had register for last years race.

We seem to be getting good reviews/response from racers when we talk to them and there seems to be quite a few teams planning on participating this year so I would encourage you to sign up as soon as you can to ensure your spot.

The price of the event also goes up on July 1st….no exceptions, you must be registered online or by mail before July 1st to get the $180 price point, after that date the price will be $200 per racer. Just something to keep in mind.

As you know the event will be a 30hr race this year, and here is your first ‘Tip’ to keep in mind while planning for the race. You may only see your gear bin once during the entire event, and count on water not being avaiable at CPs or TAs.

If you have any questions please contact us sooner than later….
